Science Fair

General Information

Participating in the Science Fair is an adventure! You can do your project by yourself or with other students. The hardest part is often getting started. Read the rest of this booklet and begin thinking about the possibilities you might explore further for your Science Fair project.

Have fun with science!

Parents

We encourage you to support your child’s efforts so that participating in the Science Fair is a positive, meaningful and fun experience. The project should be primarily a student’s ideas and effort, but there are many ways a parent can help.

  • Read this booklet with your child.
  • Help your child find a project in which he/she can do most of the work.
  • Provide technical and safety assistance.
  • Assist in acquiring necessary materials without spending too much money.
  • Help your child get organized, design charts to mark down observations, or ask questions to lead the child to analyze their data.
  • Provide encouragement.
  • Check on progress.
  • Help your child practice presenting his/her project.

Double Eagle Science Fair is a fun participation event. No places or awards are given. The purpose of the interviewing process is only to give the student a chance to explain his/her project and get constructive feedback.

If your teacher is requiring your participation, he/she will provide you with information about expectations, and any interim due dates. Grading criteria will be determined by your teacher.
